Just how and why Loki was back on Earth was a mystery. There had been no communication from Thor any Asgardian representatives. It wasn't obvious that Loki was back, in fact, his presence could have gone unnoticed if not for, well, mischief.

He'd somehow taken something belonging to one Clint Barton. Something very dear to him. His bow. Said bow now sat on a mantel above the fireplace in his current residence. It was a stone and log cabin. Lodge would be a more appropriate description. Logs make up A frame structures to support the roof. They also provide an excellent place to suspend someone from. Which inevitably happened when Barton followed the little trail of bread crumbs to find his bow and ultimately, Loki.

He's suspended near the fireplace, which is lit. Turned so he can see his bow sitting there on the mantel. He's hung high enough his toes barely brush the ground and apparently Loki took great care in securing his wrists in a specific type of cuff. The kind that would ensure he could keep him there for quite some time without much damage to his hands or wrists. He was stripped of his weapons and all his clothes save for his pants. Hence why he choose the beam close to the fire. It was the dead of winter outside.

As for Loki himself, he stood by the window, watching the snow fall and waiting for the subtle signs his captive has awoken. He's far removed from the armor and leather of before. Instead he's in simple mortal clothes but they still had a certain Loki-esque flair to them.

They've covered this. The Tesseract affects everyone differently -- but it was still a drug. It still made them into slaves. Might have exploited what was already there, but it twisted it and warped it and turned natural tendencies to its own ends.

Clint hates that thing.

"So what?" he asks.

Loki just gives him a look like it's blindly obvious. "Not everything we did was for the cause," he says simply. He gets up then crouches in front of him. He reaches a hand out to touch where he stabbed him not too long ago.

"Does it still hurt?"

No, not everything was for the cause. In fact, most of what Clint did was for Loki. His cause was Loki.

He flinches subtly away from Loki's touch. Reaches out to grasp Loki's wrist. "Yes," he says, shortly. "It does."

Loki just gives him a warning look. He won't remind him of the agreement. He leans in closer to let his breath ghost over the area. "It will always hurt," he whispers but now it's like he's not talking about the injury anymore. "I cannot fix what was left behind no more than I can remove it from myself," he says, glancing to Clint's face.

"Then you shouldn't have done it in the first place." Applies equally to the stab wound and to... everything else. He doesn't let go of Loki's hand, but there's a shiver of reaction, prickling of his skin where Loki's breath touches it. Loki's proximity is also doing things to his cock. Things that Clint is not entirely comfortable with.

"It is done and cannot be reversed," he responds with surprising softness. He glances to his wrist then tries to move despite his grip. If he can he'll rest his hand on Clint's chest.

He inches in a little closer, his free hand falling to one of Clint's knees to urge his legs apart.

Oh, hell. Oh, hell, this isn't good. Can feel his heartbeat accelerating, but he can't bring himself to stop Loki from moving closer. He just lets Loki do what he wants. Eyes downcast, furious with himself, but staying still with Loki's hands on him.

He inches ever closer to see just how far he can get. His crouch becomes a kneel by necessity. He would like that fact ignored, thanks.

Loki casts an amused glance between Clint's legs then back up to his face. This is no where near the type of intimacy they had under control of the staff. He leans close, face to face, he stays like that. Just waiting.

Doesn't matter. They both know which way the power balance goes, and Clint's not dumb enough to think that a single act of kneeling could change that.

When it becomes clear that Loki isn't going to say anything, Clint leans down to push him away, a hand on Loki's collarbones. "I don't want to play games," he says, tightly.

But Loki loves games. He lets out a chuckle. "I had to try," he says with a grin. He doesn't give up any of the space, he pushes back against him and if that isn't enough, he shoots a hand to roughly grab Clint's crotch.

"Now, now, remember I tried to play nice," he tells him. His other hand coming up to run through Clint's hair, it's an almost gentle touch compared what his other hand is doing.

A hiss; he jerks back into the chair, and growls: "You know, I don't usually put out on the first date." He can play rough, too. And he will. Just as soon as Loki pushes a boundary that he definitely definitely shouldn't.

Loki is fairly sure he's crossed a few dozen boundaries already. He keeps his hand where it is but changes the pressure to more of a caress.

"I asked what you wanted," he reminds him in a light tone.

"Go play in the snow, for all I care."

But his body belies the reaction. Swells, under Loki's palm, and there's a flush on his skin. He wants to be the one in Loki's position. He wants to be the one kneeling.

That, for some reason, really makes him laugh. He does wonder if the jotun blood will still turn his skin blue without powers. He hasn't attempted it for fear he would not change back to flesh tones.

He gives him on last firm squeeze then stands. His other hand, still in Clint's hair, gives him a few soothing pats then he steps away. His shirt is still open and covered in blood and it's like he noticed it for the first time. He strips it off and heads to the bedroom to get a new one.

Clint doesn't move. He stays in the chair, and closes his eyes, and tries to get his erection to calm down. Just breathe. Later, he'll have to go out and get the keys to the snowmobile and hide them somewhere Loki won't be able to find them, cause he's not entirely confident on that swearing yet. But -- damn, damn, and the image of Loki before him, the phantom feel of his hand on Clint lingers. He craves, distantly, when Loki had him bound. At least then he didn't have to worry about acting right, for a SHIELD agent. Doing the right thing and bringing Loki in.

When Loki comes back out his new shirt is already buttoned and tucked in. He may have changed his pants too. Aside from minor injuries, he looks like nothing has happened. He leans on the door frame and watches him.

"The cold should help with that," he says, indicating his crotch.

"Shut up." Growled. Damn, he is getting tired of Loki's teasing.

But, fine. If this is the topic of the day...

"So why didn't you touch me like that when I was your Stepford pal?"

Loki's expression goes blank then he shrugs. His gaze wanders for a moment. There was no convincing lie he could think of and the truth was not worth admitting.

"I... had other concerns."

"I went down on my knees for you," says Clint. "You found time for that."

"Once," Loki clarifies. His gaze wanders to the ground then back to him. "I couldn't afford to become distracted." Because oh if he let himself he would have. There were many many things he wished to do with him or make him do. He never did get to test the extent of the Tesseract imposed loyalty.

"So I'm distracting," says Clint, flatly. "I guess that's flattering."

Not really.

Maybe a little.

The muscles in Loki's jaw tighten. He didn't tell him nearly everything but if it's enough to stop further questions he'll take it. He does badly want to push for more contact now and that might even show on his face a little.

A long hesitation.

"You can't tell anyone about this." That's what the problem is, for Clint. His reputation would self-destruct. Anything left would be gone. He'd be homeless again, without a mission, without a leader. Maybe even fucking arrested.

But something left in him still wants Loki. And doesn't want to endure ten minutes, much less two days, with Loki giving him that look.

"I am Loki. I lie," he responds, "Were I to tell anyone. Who would believe me?" He asks that sincerely. The moments he tells the truth are almost always ignored as lies and his lies are taken as truth.

"If we are to go to SHIELD, saying anything against you would not be in my best interest. I would imagine it would leave me rather dead."

Sad but true. They wouldn't believe him.

Clint exhales, a long breath. "Then come here."

His words immediately set of a chain of panic, somewhere low in his chest. He doesn't know what part of him is relenting and what part of him is fighting. He doesn't know anything -- just that he wants to know why it is Loki's becoming obsessed with him. He wants to feed that obsession. He wants it to be power, in itself.
